What Is Meritine?

The irony is not lost on us; Nestle, a massive producer of confectionary is selling a means to lose weight and get healthy again.. Anyway..

The first thing we want to establish is that Nestle don’t explicitly state that this is a meal replacement shake for weight loss, so we’re not going too harsh on this product! It’s simply billed as a nutritious shake with all your daily required vitamins and minerals – it can be used if you’re underweight, it can be used if you’re overweight, it can be used if you just feel like getting more vitamins and minerals into your diet.

For the purposes of this Meritene review, we’re focusing on how effective a product it is for weight loss. We don’t think it comes as too much of a surprise that this product is commonly found in the weight loss sections of most stores, therefore Nestle must be aware that people are actively using this product to lose weight.

If you’re planning on using Meritene shakes for weight loss you need to be aware of a few things. Firstly, these are not a miracle weight loss shake – the product doesn’t contain any fat burning ingredients, it don’t boost your metabolism and it certainly isn’t going to deliver any miraculous results any time soon. The only way you’re going to lose weight with Meritene is if you use the shakes to put yourself onto a VLCD (very low calorie diet).

As these shakes are packed with all your required daily nutrition they’re a perfect candidate for such a diet.

You can find Meritene in most good supermarket stores, usually in the weight loss isle. You can also get it online via the official Meritene homepage.

Does Meritene Work?

We don’t believe you’ll see much success with this product when it comes to weight loss results. As we stated above the product doesn’t contain any ingredients that work for weight loss at all, therefore you’ll only lose weight indirectly with the Meritene shakes.

Putting yourself on a VLCD can work, but it has negative health implications. Most people who go on a shake-only very low calorie diet tend to see the majority of the weight lost quickly return once they go back to eating solid foods.

The Pros & Cons Of Meritene

Below is a list of what we think are the main positive and negative aspects of this product:

The Pros

  • Rich in vitamins and minerals.
  • Reasonably low in calories, good for a VLCD.

The Cons

  • Doesn’t contain any ingredients that are proven to contribute towards weight loss.
  • May not keep you feeling full for very long, as the formula doesn’t contain anything to suppress appetite.

Are There Any Meritene Reviews From Customers?

We have found the following Meritene review testimonials:

Pretty good, but like all of them they leave a few powder lumps, or become too frothy if liquidised

I’ve been using this as a meal shake to cut down my calories, so far it’s doing quite well. I’m still pretty hungry while having the shakes, but you can also use the soups.

Our Final Verdict On Meritene

To conclude our Meritene review, it’s a bit of a mixed bag – there are things that we like about it and things that we aren’t too blown away by to be used for weight loss purposes.

The ingredient profile is just not tailored to deliver genuine weight loss results. Don’t get us wrong, this is a decent shake to use if you’re just looking to supplement more vitamins and minerals into your diet however evening using these shakes as meal replacements may not be the best idea.
