Some Quick Information About SlimFast Vitality

This product is Slim Fast’s answer to the more advanced weight loss shakes on the market that clearly out perform their standard product range. By this we mean that Slim Fast Vitality is slightly more advanced than the standard Slim Fast Shakes in terms of ingredients and formula – this is basically why Slim Fast Vitality is slightly more expensive. The easiest way to think of this is Slim Fast Vitality is more of a weight loss shake, rather than a ‘meal replacement shake’.

This product resembles more of a protein shake/sports nutrition product, rather than a traditional Slim Fast shake; It’s very high in protein per serving as it contains Whey Protein and Soya Protein blends inside the formula. There is also the stimulant green tea. While the formula may be more advanced, the concept is still pretty much identical to the original Slim Fast Shakes – you should use this product to replace your meals in order to significantly lower your daily calorie intake.

Let’s set you expectations for this product right away – this is not a miracle fat burning product. This type of shake is more of a convenience product. It’s a simple way of keeping yourself of a low calorie diet, because all you have to do is drink three milkshakes per day.. pretty simple. There are no fat burning or appetite suppressing ingredients inside this formula, however there are some good ingredients that can support you towards your weight loss goals.

Does Slim Fast Vitality Work?

Yes and no. As stated above, these shakes are just an easy way to put yourself on a VLCD (very low calorie diet). On these types of diets you’ll be consuming 800 calories or less. The major issue with these types of diets is that they are not exactly healthy and users are often left in a constant battle against hunger cravings.

The official NHS documentation on VLCD’s states the following:

VLCDs may not be nutritionally complete and provide far fewer calories than most people need to maintain a healthy weight.
A daily limit of 800kcal is about a third of the average energy needs for a man (2,500kcal) and half needed for a woman (2,000kcal).
It is not an easy diet to follow. Apart from feeling hungry and low on energy, other side effects can include:
dry mouth
constipation or diarrhea
headache
dizziness
cramps
hair thinning

Another big issue with VLCD’s is the Yo-yo effect, or ‘weight cycling‘. This is where all the weight loss is quickly regained once the user stops the shakes and returns to solid food (which, let’s be honest, will happen because these shakes are expensive to maintain). Users who stop using these shakes need to make serious dietary changes to ensure they do not regain the weight, although some regained weight will be inevitable – this is something the NHS has acknowledged.

For these reasons, our Slim Fast Vitality review team have stated that they do not believe this product is very good for long term weight loss success.

What Are The Slim Fast Vitality Ingredients?

We have found the following ingredient information via the Superdrug website:

Soya protein isolate, polydextrose (dietary fiber), maltodextrin, whey protein concentrate (milk), skimmed milk powder, soya bean oil, emulsifiers (powdered cellulose, sodium carboxy methyl cellulose, sunflower lecithin, soya lecithin), natural flavoring, thickener (xanthan gum), freeze dried raspberries (1%), color (beetroot red), vitamins and minerals1, stabiliser (acacia gum), green tea extract, acid (citric acid), sweetener (sucralose), rosemary extract.

For Allergens – see ingredients in bold.

As we can see, the most common ingredient in this product is Soya protein, followed by carbohydrates (to pad out the nutritional content of the product). This product also contains Whey Protein Concentrate, which is a good substance for building muscle.

This product is let down by it’s lack of proven weight loss ingredients. There are no proven fat burning, metabolism boosting or appetite suppressing ingredients in this formula.

What Are The Slim Fast Vitality Side Effects?

We have found the following potential side effects to this product:

Increased bowel movements, nausea, thirst, bloating, cramps, tiredness (fatigue), and headache. [1]

Nervousness, sleep problems, vomiting, diarrhea, irritability, irregular heartbeat, tremor, heartburn, dizziness, ringing in the ears, convulsions, and confusion. [2]

Note: side effects are possible but may not be typical.

What does Slim Fast Vitality claim to do?

Pleasantly our Slim Fast Vitality review team found that there aren’t any outrageous claims about this product. Slim Fast don’t specifically state that their product will cause weight loss (despite what the company name ‘Slim Fast’ may suggest). All claims about this product are based on the ingredient scientific evidence.

Slim Fast make the following claims:

  • Biotin helps energy yielding metabolism
  • Chromium to maintain blood sugar levels
  • Iron to help reduce tiredness

Are There Any Reviews From Customers?

We have found the following Slim Fast Vitality review testimonials:

Verified Purchase
Contains a lot of carbohydrates, specifically in the form of sugar. Tastes powdery, has no chocolate taste, aside from being brown in color. I would stick to eating wholesome food!!

Verified Purchase
I was quite excited when I read about this product. This is because Slimfast delivers in taste, although it has more carbs than some equivalent brands. I have tried all protein powders under the sun and eventually leave them halfway bcos lumps of protein shake make me feel sick.

As Slim Fast Vitality is reasonably new to market we could not find too many reviews that we felt we could trust.

Where Can I Buy This Product?

You can buy this product from multiple high street stores, as well as amazon and the slim fast website.

Our Conclusion.

To conclude our Slim Fast Vitality review, it’s a bit of a mixed bag – there are things that we like about it and things that we aren’t too blown away by. Although this product can be looked at as a slightly more advanced ‘regular’ slim fast shake, the advancements are still not enough. The formula is lacking a lot of ingredients we’d like to see – there are no scientifically proven weight loss ingredients used, or anything to suppress appetite over the long term. The price point of this product from a ‘per serving’ standpoint is also slightly off-putting considering you’d ideally be having three servings per day.
